Assault on Vampire Island

I've been everywhere and tried everything and everytime I get a new object or somehow change the enviroment then I go everywhere and try everything again. I've even been everywhere with the lighthouse set in all 5 possible settings (off,n,s,e,w). I've been killed a ton of times. Help! I have not idea what else to try.

I've been to the cave and the bottom of the cliff. And I've been to the dungon but I can't get through the door. I also can't get past the allagator. I also can't get into the swamp.

My current inventory:
box of matches
bucket
crowbar
digital watch
rope
small metal key
threatening note

Thanks! I didn't read any of the other hint posts so that I wouldn't get any spoilers about what is to come next. I'd just like a hint to make some small progress at this point.
