POA - dark places!!

I've tried really hard not to give spoilers away, so bear with my illusive descriptions....
I've a nasty feeling that when I had the card of the guy in a dark hole, I should've tried to get the illuminative source in his place, which I then could've used in lots of dark places. Am I right??
I do have some matches (although I thought I was gonna get something else in return (the meanie!).
Even worse he doesn't say what he wants (the blue meanie - if I assume he's wearing blue clothing!)
Back to looking, appreciate, I think a reply, but if it doesn't matter that's even better, I can stop kicking Ken. :o)
