I chose "past," and let me explain why.
I was born in 1974. My earliest memories are probably from about three or four years after that, and it probably wasn't until I started school that I really became aware of the world at large outside of my own home and family. So I'd say that I've only seen about 17-20 years of the "past."
I know I'll see the future. Barring accidents and disease, I should have at least another 40 or 50 years of life, and after my body dies, I'll still be alive, just in a different sense of the word. I'll be there for the future, *all* of it.
But the past I can only read about in history books. I can't see and experience it in a tangible way. Given the opportunity and the choice, I'd choose to go back in time and see all the fascinating things I've only been able to read in books.
