Well, there's usually 2 or 3 other boats in the locks, and you have to put a line at both end to old the thing in place... The stupid ropes alway jam when you go up or down, so you have to wrestle them out...

Personaly, if I owned a boat, I'd make sure no one was overworked during that kind of thing :-D
