Yes, but not yet. You have something else to do before that option becomes available to you.

You know, part of the fun of adventure games is the ability to examine an item you're carrying. It's also nice to read what the writer wrote about the item, because he did go through the trouble to write it and all. After that, You should be able to figure it out. Good luck.
